Matteo Iavicoli is a Chicago-based industrial designer born and raised in Florence, Italy. Growing up surrounded by art, architecture, and traditional craftsmanship inspired him to see beauty in everyday objects. His passion for design and the subtle nuances of the creative process flourished when he moved to Detroit, where he graduated from College for Creative Studies’ renowned Product Design Department. Matteo has had the opportunity to work in both consulting and corporate environments. He has accumulated skills and experiences that can be applied to a wide array of disciplines such as industrial design, graphic design, packaging design, branding, and mechanical engineering. His never-ending curiosity shapes his character and design process. It encourages him to meet new people, travel, and see the world through a unique lens. These experiences inspire him to learn and grow from those around him. Matteo has helped orchestrate the launch of the WellBeings CBD inhaler and the Wonder Wellness Platform, giving him experience in hardware start-up design and the challenges that are faced when launching a product-centric brand.

Problem Solving | I often find myself wondering how to improve products and experiences of everyday objects I interact with. You can regularly find me doodling ideas on my phone and jotting down note after note. In my apartment, you’ll find a variety of custom 3D printed parts designed to tailor products to my needs.
Travel | I’ve been fortunate to spend time in China, India, Japan, Mexico, Canada, Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, and France. Visiting new places and experiencing different cultures gives me the drive, insight, and awe that inspires me to innovate.
Tech | Analyzing product details, part breaks, execution, packaging, and shelf presence, isn’t just research for me, it’s more of a hobby. I love spending time in electronics stores looking at every product, and get a thrill out of seeing products my fellow designers have developed.
Sports | My second passion is soccer, football, fútbol, whatever you want to call it. I grew up playing and watching it every day. If there is a game on, I usually have it playing in the background.
Gaming | When I’m not designing, I enjoy playing videogames. It has become the new norm for virtual hangouts and a great way to stay connected with friends around the globe.
