Matteo Iavicoli is currently an Industrial Designer at MNML in Chicago. Before moving back to the east coast, he enjoyed a long internship at fuseproject. During that time, he worked alongside lead designers in a laborious work environment contributing to projects ranging from consumer electronics to store interiors. He participated in all areas of client-driven product development. Prior to fuseproject, he graduated from College for Creative Studies where he developed a strong passion for the complex interrelation between industrial and interaction design. He was introduced to interaction design very early when, as a sophomore, he accepted a part time job at PocketSquare, a user interaction design consultancy with focus on HMI for the automotive industry. Afterwards, he had in-depth exposure to the full design process and manufacturing during a 6-month internship at Electrolux; there, he was fortunate to work hand in hand with the global industrial design teams on all aspects of their major appliances. Subsequently, he enjoyed a summer internship at Garmin where he worked on developing the Forerunner 35, their latest running watch. With them, he had multiple opportunities to present to upper management and later receive the ‘Peoples choice award’. In parallel, he was also collaborating with Poacht, New York based start up. He fully branded the company, designed the website and their mobile app. The work was then featured in Product Hunt, Mashable, TechCrunch and many more.
